Capri is an Island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, in Italy. Capri has centuries of history as it has been a resort since Roman times, a luxury get away from Naples for noble families. This is true paradise on hearth and for sure one of the best summer destinations for this year.
There are plenty of things to visit in this surreal place, amazing views and historical places.
A gem of incomparable beauty, Capri’s Island features infinite views over the Gulf of Sorrento, like the Belvedere of Tragara (a high panoramic walk lined with stunning villas) or La Migliera, a walk away from the crowd to be immersed in the wild that will take you at the Belvedere del Tuono.
La Certosa di San Giacomo – Charterhouse of St. Giacomo – sunk with its extended buildings within the narrow valley between the Castiglione and the Tuoro hills, expresses the mediaeval and monastic period of Capri in its most noble and monumental.
Casa Rossa is also famous: the Red House, from its bright color. It surrounds the Aragonese Tower built by the people of Anacapri in the second half of the 14th century to defend their town. It hosts a permanent exhibition of paintings, portraying views of the island between the 19th and 20th centuries.
The second most famous symbol of Capri is arguably the Blue Grotto, a sea cave on the coast. Sunlight, passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater, creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern. Its entrance is a small hole bug enough to have a tiny rowboat passing through it. There is another source of light and lies directly below the entranceway, separated from it by a bar of rock between one and two meters thick: it is this that ensure a dazzling effect of the light that has the sea “glowing”.
Probably the most famous site in Capri, instead, is La Piazzetta (Piazza Umberto I), the use of the suffix “etta” in Italian is a diminutive, and is used in affectionate reference to the square’s small size. In the past it was just the site of the fish market, but has since risen in prestige and it is now the center of Capri’s social life.
This is just a small look into what you can expect from this summer trip. We advice you to visit Capri and have the best summer holidays ever!
