My God ‘is a series of luminous sculptures initiated by Shanghai-based artist Qiu Minye. They look like an enchanted light sculpture that enhances our magical world.
Like a magician, she gives shape to ephemeral silhouettes of animals, humans and geometric objects similar to small fireworks using the technique of light painting.
By experimenting with various applications of photography, the artist has recorded time and depicted 3-dimentionality for the series “My God”, which removes the recognizable identity of an image, leaving only the silhouette from light painted strokes.
The artist illustrates merely the motion and outline of human figures, animals and floating, transparent objects, regardless of the light, shadow, color and other common aesthetic conditions they bear. The series provides the audience with a visually mystifying and seemingly impossible optical experience and at the same time poses an important question: in contemporary art how can the importance of experience have new emphasis?
