Hans Hemmert is a German artist in love with balloons, probably. His balloon sculptures are based on colorful or yellow balloons, that’s his true passion.
His creation of a balloon tank is called “German Panther.” In time, the balloons slowly deflated into nothingness, and apparently, local children were allowed to destroy the remnants. I assume this was, in some way, a political statement…
It would have been quite interesting to see the movement of the balloons in person. The tank was originally shown at the Staedtische Galerie in Germany.
Hemmert also made this interesting balloon church, maybe in reference to the fragility of organized religion? Or the absurdity of it?
Hans Hemmert is fascinated by air and latex balloons in a bright canary yellow. But these aren’t just your average latex inflatables, some fill entire rooms while others surround Hemmert himself. Posing as a giant elongated egg, he performs dances or interacts with the objects outside his elastic bubble.
