Another recognized talent by Maison et Objet next January is the talent of Färg & Blanche awarded with Talents à la carte.
Färg & Blanche is a French-Swedish design studio founded in 2010 by the designers Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche. Fredrik took his Master’s degree in design in 2008 and Emma graduated in 2006. Known for their experimental stance, where each expression informs the other, they work across a wide variety of fields, collaborating with established Scandinavian furniture brands and producing their own collections and limited art pieces for galleries around the world.
Fredrik has a background as a cabinet maker, but has always nurtured a strong interest in fashion, in particular Alexander McQueen.
Emma grew up surrounded by art – her mother is an artist and art teacher. These influences can be felt in all of Emma and Fredriks work, including the various collaborations they undertake.
Their sense of experimentation with materials and production methods, in particular in textiles, can be felt throughout Emma and Fredrik’s work. They effortlessly move between the exclusive hand made one off and the industrially produced, without ever losing their distinctive touch.

The creative heart of Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche can be found in their large studio in Södermalm, Stockholm. Housed in an underground garage, it functions as much as a showroom for their work as a place for hands on experimentation, with a well-equipped workshop at the back.
Our favorite is F-A-B collection of dressed up chairs, pairing a factory-produced wooden chair with hand made textile “garments” that can be placed over its back. The chairs are manufactured by one of the oldest shaker chair factories still in activity in Sweden, while dresses are hand made in the atelier of the design duo in Stockholm.
They have received numerous awards and this recognition from M&O will help them to get bigger in the design industry as the fair is highlighting six emerging designers, or pairs of designers and they are one of the selected. If visiting M&O you will be able to see the designers work at Hall 7!
They were awarded for Best Product at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Sköna Hem Best Product of the Year 2013, and Swedish ELLE Deco Young Talent 2009, among others. They have also collaborated with Comme Des Garçons making exhibitions in Tokyo, Seoul and Paris and have created a number of acclaimed exhibitions, including “20 designers at Biologiska” 2011 and “Inside Scandinavian Design” 2015. Over the years, they have taken part in many design exhibitions. Their RE-cover chairs are represented in the collection at the National Museum in Stockholm.
