The breathtaking landscape of the Brazilian hills near Rio de Janeiro is the background of the “Casa AL”, built by studio Arthur Casas the three-storey property offers iconic panoramic views.
The architects have worked closely with the home’s owner; the challenge for this projects was to maximize sightlines towards the ocean, as the first plan provided no direct views of the sea.
The identified passed by changing the entrance, social areas and the infinity pool to the first floor, with direct access from the higher level of the steep adjacent street. As a result, the elevated property shows off impressive views along the shoreline. The house is articulated around the area pool, with large glass panels utilized to soften the separation between internal and external space. The unit houses private facilities such as the residence’s master suite and a spa, both oriented towards the horizon, bounded by an enclosed garden, guestrooms and service areas are positioned at ground level.
The materials employed in the design is endemic to the regional landscape, with quarry stone and cumaru wood locally sourced and extremely resistant to weather variations and erosion.Inside they use warm tones and textures establish a casual and comfortable living environment with the best of Brazilian furniture fused with carefully furnishings.
