Silas Seandel was born in NY, andstudied sculpture and economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He opened his studio in 1963. While Seandel was working on a collection for a one man show, he was commissioned by an architect to create a wall sculpture for a building under construction. Seandel has been working almost exclusively for architects, interior designers and engineers ever since.
He was one of the first artists to introduce traditional sculpture techniques into the field of furniture.
Also known for the large architectural sculpture he has executed most recently a WORLD TRADE CENTER MEMORIAL for the lawn of Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich CT, Silas Seandel is perhaps even better known for his unique, one of a kind pieces of sculptured furniture, It is another way of introducing art into your life.
Each unique piece is an extension of those pieces that he has done for designers and architects for the last 30 years. They are all handmade in the Silas Seandel studio and executed in solid metals such as brass, bronze, steel, copper… and all colors are the results of acids and heat treatments which the designer has developed. His creations have no veneers, nothing unnatural. Astonishing! Every single piece can be costumized in size, shape and finish so it will better fit the place you want to decorate.
In this post you will be able to see some of his astonishing creations but we surely advice you to visit his website!
