Stephen Mcmennamy was born in Marietta Georgia and is dedicated to p+hoto manipulation creating surreal photos.
His formative years took place in jungles of Southeast Asia. When he was 2, the family packed up and we moved to the Philippines where he spent some of the most tropical/volcanic/humid/rice-consuming years of his life.
After that he returned to the United States of America. The artist quickly realized that he wasn’t going to follow in the engineering footsteps of the father and grandfather.
The artist says: “pursuing the path along the right side of my brain led me to the Savannah College of Art and Design where I spent some time exploring the world of fine art, but ultimately I decided to shift gears and explore the world of fine advertising. this brought me back to Atlanta where I entered the Creative Circus as a designer, but exited an art director.”
He worked for Jerry Cronin, the person he says that he didn’t learned everything about advertising, but definitely learned everything good about advertising. He taught Stephen some good stuff, valuable lessons were learned and here he is, all these years later, still enjoying the advertising ride.
It was several years ago when he started to explore instagram and felt in love with photography. This was the inspiration to the photo manupulations he does nowadays.
“I found myself continually inspired by all the creative minds that are hanging out on Instagram. I saw an opportunity to challenge myself and to embrace Instagram as a new creative outlet. as a result I stumbled on to a technique I call #combophotos. honestly, I feel like it gave me a creative spark that I didn’t know I was missing. I love to explore and create and the combophoto challenge really keeps me on my toes. Most of the time it feels like I’m solving a puzzle.”
