The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection: The Samurai Armor is a fascinating introduction to the ancient world of the samurai where visitor can explore their spectacular armor and accoutrements. This exhibition is traveling exhibitions that have been showcased a variety of works from the family’s collection, which has been built over a span of twenty five years. The collection presents treasure trove of battle gear made for high-ranking warriors and daimyo of the 14th through 19th centuries, and more than 140 objects of warrior regalia, with full suits of armor, helmets and face guards, weapons, horse trappings, and other battle gear. The pieces were previously on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Musée de la Civilisation in Québec City , The Musée du quai Branly in Paris are right now on LACMA. The exhibition is accompanied by a book titled, Art of Armor: Samurai Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection, with essays by well-renowned leading Japanese samurai armor experts and full color catalog of one hundred and twenty objects from the collection.
