Chad Wys is a conceptual artist, designer, and writer who works out of Illinois where he was born in 1983. His digital manipulation called American Tapestry and Nocturne include playful approaches of manipulating and deconstructing historical works of art. Wys is an artist that successfully evokes the age old conversation about the meaning of art by looking to the past and re-contextualizing it.
By retooling the object and then re-presenting it before the viewer, Chad Wys intend to add new layers to the conversation that takes place between the observer and the object in its original state.

“The impressionists were my idols and museums were my arenas. This naive fascination with art and its history would persists in varied degrees throughout my adolescence, contributing to a full-blown vocation in adulthood.”- he says.
At its broadest point, his work concerns the examination of visuality: of images and objects, decorations and art and how the manifestations of the reproductions of these materials come to influence our everyday experiences.
