Also, from 13 – 28 September 2017 the gallery will be showcasing an exhibition of Fredrikson Stallard “Intuitive Gestures” at the gallery in London. “What makes their new editioned work so dramatically different is that they’re really pushing the boundaries of the sculptural and the functional,” says gallery CEO Francis Sultana.
“To some degree, they’re taking their design cues from John Chamberlain’s iconic sculpture made up of crushed scrap metal car bumpers and fenders.” The designers’ Atlantic table is a case in point: anchored by a distinctive base made up gleaming stainless steel that appears as a craggy chunk of granite and crushed steel simultaneously with than a glass top, which gives a sense of fragility. Their Scriptus I-IV bookcase, which is comprised of black lacquered patinated steel, demonstrates their uncanny creativity for deconstructing the notion of a mere routine bookcase and then elevating it into the realm of sculpture.
Fredrikson Stallard’s work is hardly restricted to mere residences, though; their clientele has long cut a broad stylish swathe from Swarovski and Chanel to the chic Savoy Hotel, and not mention the Soho and Tribeca Grand. It’s an exhibition full of art furniture pieces to get inspired.
