Yves and Victor Gastou are the father and dad behind Yves Gastou Gallery, one of the best design galleries that you should visit.
A dream originally conceived by the father, Yves, from one discovery to another, which brought him to explore the major trends of 20th century Art Deco, and which he then passed onto his son, Victor, with great harmony.
The father’s career started in provincial France, in Toulouse, where he revived Art Nouveau and Art Deco. His encounter with the work of the great cabinetmaker André Arbus led him to become passionate about the 40’s and then about designs of the 50’s and 70’s, not to mention the 80’s, those antiquities from the future that he was the first to bring face to face with the range of historical creation from 1935 to 1960, in his gallery on Bonaparte street.

The son’s career carries the flame of love for Sottsass’, Pesce’s and Mendini’s furniture, in the middle of which he grew up and which remain his references, even if he stepped aside long enough to study commerce. But once his master of international affairs was under his belt, everything clicked into place for him. So quite understandably, passion for decorative arts caught up with him, and when asking his father to work beside him he decided to take the plunge into writing a new page of the family history.
Two diametrically opposed paths, but with the good fortune of legacy as a common thread, the joy of working together, of finding fulfillment in a happy partnership, where the generation gap softens with a curiosity written in their genes, in the same ingenuous and poetic look they have upon objects and which shapes their true personalities.
