I love Nick Van Woert work and lifestyle. Living almost at his studio, the “grunge” artist haves many amazing radical hobbies like skating, but the fantastic thing about him is the exclusive art pieces that he does for mainly galleries. Mainly working sculptures Nick mixtures a lot of materials giving them the right amount of energy and movement to call everyone’s attention. He’s way of thinking is always doing the opposite of the main stream “If you have a mirror break it. If you have a broken mirror put it back together. Does that answer your question?” (Nick’s answer to Heavy Mental interview).
Very inspired by different materials and new approaches to that materials, Nick tries to see “the horrific potential behind materials that are typically regarded as comforting, luxurious and casual. For example, mix your hot pink hair gel with some chlorine from your pool and you’ve got a nasty chemical reaction that gets hot enough to catch a puddle of gas fire.”
Explaning is concept of art he says “That’s what art should do – scare the shit out of you.”… Sincerely I don’t feel fear when I see his work but more like an attraction to the unique creative work he does.
