Studio MVW is a design duo composed by Chinese designer Xu Ming and French architect Virginie Moriette, dedicate to create simple lines of art furniture.
They are known for their sculptural, architectural forms and ability to subtly connect contemporary Western and Eastern aesthetics. With over twenty years of experience in architecture, interior and furniture design, Studio MVW has won numerous awards in Asia and Europe, including the Architectural Digest AD 100 Design Talents Award (2015 and 2013); Wallpaper* Design Award (2014); ELLE Decoration International Design Award (2013).
Among the several collections in the portfolio, there is ‘JINSHI’, a precious collection of furniture and lights focused on pink jade, an exceptional natural gemstone with a sumptuous powder transparency. ‘JINSHI’ literal translation means ‘Gold Stone’. Each work is a true jewel for the home.
‘JINSHI’ luminous consoles and ‘JINSHI’ lamps combine natural pink jade illuminated by hidden LEDs and a structure in anodized stainless steel colored in brass with a subtile pink gold shade. In the ‘JINSHI’ coffee table, a large pink jade top looks like it is levitating on three golden spheres. Each piece in the ‘JINSHI’ collection is also available in a gunmetal grey anodized version. ‘JINSHI’ offers an interplay of curves and lines that defines a minimalist balance of forms while the sensuality of pink jade offers a refinement that is unique in today’s furniture design.
Another collection is: ‘XIANGSHENG’, an elegant bronze furniture collection that plays on the complementarities between structural form and void, empty space and solid surfaces, oxidized bronze and brushed bronze. This collection incarnates Studio MVW’s cross-cultural philosophy and their ability to subtly connect contemporary Western and Eastern aesthetics.
The collection of unique pieces is represented by Gallery BSL.
